Hello my fellow Atarians

Do people fancy another online chat in January? The last couple have been good fun where a few of us spend an hour or so chatting about our computing hobby and just things in general. All very informal and a good laugh.

So far we have had them on a Sunday evening at 7pm GMT. You can select what date suits you best from the poll below.
If they continue to go well then I'd like to try and organise one a month so we can have a wee catch up with each other.

I was always a happy, outgoing, friendly young man, I worked hard, wasn't a party person but enjoyed a trip to the cinema, a nice holiday, music, comics etc. And then something happened that tore the life out of me to the point I tried to end it twice. Thought we should maybe start a dedicated thread for these virtual hang-outs as the upcoming Google chat will be the third in as many months

Going forward I propose we just update the thread title with the next meeting and if everyone is happy with it I'll create and post a link to each meeting here. We've been using Google Chat so far and it seems to work well.

I just realized today that my first ever e-mail address, that I still have and use today, I will have had for 27 years later this year, in about 6 months. Matthewbaker30@hotmail.com which I still use through Outlook. It sort of outlived Hotmail itself since it doesn't really exist any longer except for any of us old timers that still have the active address!

Finally manged to take pictures and write up a description of my retro man cave. It's a lenghty post so feel free to make a cuppa of Yorkshire tea and pull up a seat.

My main Atari 8bit setup. 800XL with AVG and SysCheckII. I picked up the little Hyperkin controller over in the States for it, really responsive and makes a good joystick alternative. Above that is a 1050 drive and my as yet unexpanded 600XL.
The tank like 800 is unmodded and I use that for playing my original cartridge...

Hello everyone, my old friends, and I see we've got 3 newer members too in 2024, a belated welcome to you, hopefully you guys are active, it'd be nice to have a few new regulars around, though I've been absent, except for a couple times stating I was still alive in the CHAT area, I haven't been around in maybe as much as two years now...man time just flies, even when I'm not having fun.

A couple of weeks ago we had a wee discussion about a 1960's New Town near Glasgow called Cumbernauld.

Well recently I was in the vicinity so took some photo's. It's a pretty bleak place now

Like most kids of the 1970's and 80's I had a decent collection of toy cars.

A couple of years ago the Corgi Model Club (CMC) started up, reproducing the original models, boxes etc.
My dream car is the Lotus Elan S2 so when they brought that model out last year it went to the top of my wishlist. Finally ordered it just before my last holiday but while I was away found an original 60's version for £10. Bargain!

Was going to return the reproduction but decided to keep it today as it is...

Last month when he had a sunny Saturday I took a trip down the motorway to the Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum and then the Solway Aviation Museum. Not made a list as yet, but Bob left me his old collection, he loved The Goon's, Jasper Carrot, Last of the Summer Wine etc.

There's box sets and single DVD's and a small lot of CD's.

Lots of Goon's stuff

Basically, all I'll want is the cost of sending and maybe a couple of quid (if it's a box set) or a quid for the others. More keen to get them to a wanting home, rather than sat on my floor. As usual, not going the Ebay route.
