The GSP gets more interesting... MyArcade have announced a new portable version with built in screen, new gamepad, new joystick and also a pretty cool looking Atari 10" display arcade cabinet.

The GSP is still getting used. Mainly when I just feel like a quick game of Centipede or Sensible Soccer for ten minutes as it's perfect for quickly switching on in the living room. Picked up a couple of usb-c to usb-c cables for the controllers to save on AA batteries and to add to that old school wired (the joysticks, not me) feeling.

Right now it's getting a lot more use than my 2600+ which has just about tuned into a dedicated player for the 7800 version of Centipede in the mancave! It's enjoyable being able to flick between PAL and NTSC versions of various roms and see the difference. And Juno First for the VCS is a bloody great shoot em up as well.

At this rate I think it's a definte that I'll get the portable version of the Gamestation when it comes out around Christmas. It will be interesting with the built in numberpad, paddle and trackball.

It's all very very very interesting indeed, Al.
Many thanks for your updates on this system - I've never been a console fan but you keep tempt, tempt, tempting me over this - maybe I'll have a few months trying to get back on top of things financially and then treat myself to the GSP once I see myself heading in the right direction - this could be my light at the end of the tunnel :)

Sounds like a plan Andy. I'm juggling finances all over the place just now too and the bloody credit card company have just upped the rate another couple of percent today!

Just paid the last payment on the monitor and in 5 days I have the last payment on the PS5, and then I'm clear. The pay in 3 with PayPal is a gem, it's made the ability to have stuff a little easier while not encouraging me to get into debt. All interest free as well.

It's the nearest I'm allowed to get credit, handy but safe.

Slightly related, I mentioned a solicitor company called Lowell, who contacted me for a supposed 3 Mobile debt (that never existed), well they sent another letter, so I called them and explained that I'd never been with 3 Mobile, which 3 Mobile confirmed, I told them that I'd seen Lowells name plastered all over the Net and had been featured on BBC Watchdog for the exact same stunt. She said she didn't know about that, so I demanded that they send total proof I had a debt and not someone using the address, and they had 30 days to do this as after that if they contact me it's harassment and I can do them. Quickly the tone changed, and she said that there's unlikely to be any proof left from 2014 so they would close the case. Today I got another letter, but it was to confirm the case was closed.

Scammers everywhere, stand your ground folks, they have to prove it in that timescale or it's void..

Oh, just forgot, the 2nd letter demanding the 208.00 actually said they would do a 50% off if I paid then and there..LOL..Any trick in the book..

Dirty robbing buggers Paul. Thankfully you have your wits about you, but thinking about all those poor sods who pay up as they get scared by the tactics those cowboys employ. Just makes your blood boil.

And I concur about things like paypal being a nice way to treat yourself now and again. I use Amazon interest free payments in a similar way from time to time. Mind you less than two weeks to go now until my name comes off the register. NO GUYS, not THAT register....

    Very sorry to hear, Al.
    Barsteward leeches and blood suckers.
Looking at my monthly "breakdown", I've managed to knock £300 off my debts so if I can keep that going this year, I'll be on track for making some real headway and finally arresting the slide to... well, I don't wanna think about it. It's got quite crazy of late and I've had to knock spending completely on the head.

As Al commented, Paul, bunch of feckin scheming, robbing, fukwits - enough to make our blood boil these evil manipulators. Very well done for exposing them for what they are.

I just did what we all would, was more a warning to people in a bit of debt. When you are in that situation it's very easy to just accept bills through the door as being 'just another thing to pay', and I understand that pressure, but you have to look at every demand and see if it's real. Too many scamming feckers out there knowing these very issues exist.

Evri / Hermes have and always have had the worst ratings ever..Almost every parcel for me or mostly Serena has had an issue and mostly gone to the wrong place.

Don't understand the company, being shit is like a badge of honour to them..

Andy tale of missing Gamestation made me think that I hadn't played mine lately so I switched it on for a quick game tonight. Two hours later I was still playing it :)

It's under the 'big telly' in the living room so gets overlooked sometimes but tonight made me remember what a neat little system it is. The selection of built in Atari games is top notch. I like to keep the ratio correct and the old tv border you can choose looks good. Features like saving games are really easy to use as well.

The only downside is that games you load via your own SD card can't use the built in save feature or screen borders but hopefully they'll fix that with the next release around Christmas time. And although I use it mainly for Atari 2600 and 7800 games it's pretty good at playing other systems as well. The joysticks for example are awesome with the Megadrive version of Sensible Soccer, giving you great control and making it my favourite system to play the game on.

Really hope you pick one up eventually Andy and have the pleasure of playing with all its retro-bits :)

And Sensible Soccer Megadrive version being played from the SD card so no screen border this time.

    Uber sweet, Al.
You reminding me of what I'm missing on the Atari Anniversary is like taking candy from a kid - stobbit, else I'll tell me Uncle Jim'll Fix It and he'll gan over to Evri and bleedin well fix their user ports for em.
A couple of nice screen shots there and the border display is especially retro.
Like yer big telly as well with the wee legs but there must be a bug with that version of Sensi Soccer - now come it's still 0-0 with Strangers after 10mins? Surely they should be 5nil down and down to 8 men??
    I want a recount.
Lovely system, mate, and I cannae wait for more.
Had an amazing surprise tonight btw visiting the guy who's flogging me the MX5... will tell you more tomorrow, lads... talk about incredible find :)

Don't keep us in suspenders Andy, what's the MX-5 update?

About the Sensi game, I just started computer v computer to take the photo. The game before that I played as Celtic and hammered Rangers 6-1 :)

Oh and you may have noticed the snazzy red usb cable attached to the joystick. They also work wirelessly but I just like having the cable attached for that old school feel...

He found an old newspaper that actually featured a Sunderland win, twas from 1932 tho...Amazing find. Sadly it was written in pure Geordie, so unreadable for normal folk.
