Fraid to say, it didn't quite make it, fellas.

Some of you might know of its concept.

This was all news to me but what a fascinating groundbreaking idea:

Great find Andy. When you think of all the prototypes and other lesser known Atari systems that must have been planned or released there is quite a selecton!

So fellow Atarians, what are your favourite lesser known Atari bits of kit?

I'd heard/read of it before, and I probably would have loved it back in the early 80's when holography seemed so futuristic, but Atari probably did make the right decision in not releasing it as I think after the initial "awe" of the holographic pictures wore off that I, and probably the rest of the gaming public would have shoved it in a closet to collect dust and I probably would never have purchased more games other than what came with it.

I've got a soft spot for the little Atari Touch Me. It sits proudly next to the rest of my Atari consoles and computers.

Then there was the mind control interface they had in development, that sounded pretty cool.

My all time favourite though is the vapourware that was the IBM / Atari 800 prototype. Looked just gorgeous.

My fave lesser known bit of Atari kit, Al...?

It's so unknown that even Atari have never heard of it -

    (but Rolf has!)

Sorry, nothing to do with Atari, I know... just my excuse to upload a vid demoing my fave little bit of musical technology from the seventies.

Did anyone else have a Stylophone??

Lol...Yes and only last year picked up a new one (reproduction) from a charity shop, made my daughter laugh at the high tech of it :)

As used on Son of my father by Chicory Tip and I think another tune..

I wish I'd heard of the Stylophone! I LOVE IT! I'll be looking for one of these bad boys on eBay now...got to go search for one on the internet...

OK, I'm back, that wasn't hard at all! Just one Duckduckgo search and I found lots of places selling them, and lots of different versions, just on Amazon for example, including a round beat-box version:

You will be seeing me show this in the 'What's new Pussycat' thread shortly!
