My Fujinet has a slot for a micro SD card. I have a 32G micro SD card. It was full of who knows what so I fired up one of my linux boxes and(finally) figured out how to to reformat that card. I then downloaded(via wget) 1890 atr files to the card. Yippee! Well, maybe not. I discovered my Fujinet couldn't read the card! Oh no! I thought I was going to have to download all of those files again. I copied all of the files to a safe place and reformatted the card. Linux formats to ext2(a linux format) by default if you're not paying attention, but my fujinet was expecting a vfat format. I reformatted the card using vfat. I was amazed at how fast my linux box dropped the files onto the card. These are all very small files. I popped the card into my Fujinet and the files(1890 of them!) were all there! Cool! I spent the next few hours(!) loading one program after another. There are dozens of DOS files, music and art editors, and utilities. My favorite so far is WORD MAGIC. A quick little text editor. There were no games in this list, so maybe I'll snag some of those later. Cy P.S. All of those(1890) files occupy about 159 Mbytes!
I hope you've got a few months free/put aside to "investigate" that little lot of files, Cy! The gift that will keep giving and giving and giving and... then some I'm only jealous - sounds like you're having heapz of fun with the Atari Fujinet hardware and..."doing some SERIOUS downloading!"
There used to a list of AtariAge members who had created downloadable collections via the FujiNet. As I pretty much never go on AtariAge these days, I've lost track of where the list is. As folks on here know, the Fujinet cart never interested me, it's a clever bit of kit and props to the creators, but when my Atari-ness started to decline I realised I'd only be buying one for the sake of owning a new bit of hardware, and I'd never use it. My AVG is more than enough for me. Glad to see other people find them great and get a huge amount of enjoyment from them.
FujiNet is one clever bit of hardware. My favourite feature was being able to print to a PDF file from my 800XL with it. Sadly I wasn't using it anywhere near often enough so now, like Paul, have an AVG cart as I mainly just muck about with games on the A8 and that does everything I need. Still tickles me thinking of our old 8-bit Atari's being able to download files from the internet and act like a weather staiton though
Yup, great bit of kit, but I'd never use most of its funky features. All I want is a 1 item does all loading solution, Anything else is wasted on me. It's still amazing what Tom etc made tho..
