Morning, fellas. Just stumbled across this guy selling various wares and collectables from down the decades... seems he has a very interesting history behind him (Ebay handle megadrivecollector) Check this: If you are interested in computer game Memorabilia from this time period then keep an eye out as I have thousands of items, most of which are being sold off. I worked in the video games industry for many years. From coding 8 bit games in the late 70's and early 80's, Becoming a play tester which sounded like a dream job (it was actually very dull!) to being a reviewer with a penchant for adventure games. I also bought assets from companies when they stopped trading such as English software, Mastertronic, Origin etc. I have a lot of things that never left the offices of these companies like alternative artwork for some games and in some cases the original artwork that was usually hanging framed on the wall. Everything else from original code for well known games to personalized pens for the various staff! I am yet to unbox 90% of this stuff so even I don't know exactly what's there. For the last 2 years I have been working on a book covering this era of text and early point and click adventure games. This will be an extremely in-depth book, Unlike the current things we see that have been printed from Wikipedia and stapled together! If you are looking for anything specific then please ask. and this... I am now starting to list my older games from the late 70's to mid 80's. I will be selling every game released by Level 9, Adventure International, Infocom, Synapse, Broderbund, Datasoft, SSI, Red Rat, Llamasoft and many, many more. I have some items that I have never seen anywhere else. A number of review copies of very old text adventures that aren't even listed on specific platform sites such as Atarimania or Lemon 64. Games such as Nadral and Great Giana Sisters that went out for review but never got released due to copyright concerns. (I know a fair few copies of Giana sisters hit the shops before withdrawal) A lot of items that I got signed at old computer shows in London, Usually at Earl's Court or Olympia. Before the industry got heavily commercialized you could go to these shows and meet the programmer's themselves who would be selling their games from a stall. How times have changed! The best known faces were Jeff Minter of Llamasoft who never missed a show and Rob Hubbard, The great musician behind the sound of games like Commando, Warhawk, Monty on the run, Sanxion, the list goes on... I even have some items from Danielle Bunten who was the main programmer responsible for seven cities of gold and M.U.L.E (My favourite game!) All of these items have been in my possession since these shows or from trips abroad, None have been bought online at a later date and therefore I know the authenticity of items and most have a back story. I obtained a few items whilst in the U.S (During the video game crash of '83) including some bits from Scott Adams, Ozark (As mentioned above) and very rare items from the offices of Infocom. I spent some time with most software companies in California at the time including Sirius, Accolade, Activision, Electronic Arts, Epyx, Lucasarts and of course, Atari. This is to name just a handful. The item I homed in on was this (no surprise being an armchair general!) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174438966037?ul_noapp=true It might well be worthwhile checking out his other listings on a regular basis, fellas...?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/megadriv...37&ul_noapp=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 (Yes, some of it is massively over-priced but if he's got things like "extra value for money" big industry names' autographs and assorted additional paraphernelia, they'll be someone, somewhere perhaps willing to pay...) Food for thought for you retronauts...
Nice stuff, silly prices mostly.. Sounds a lot like myself although I didn't know Dan Bunten before his op, I even had games with alternate names like Draconus which was later released as Menace on the Amiga because I told Psynosis that the review copy I had was already a C64 game name. I'd love to find out who it is..... Edit: Read his negs...Not good..
I put a bid in for Jump Jet now they are not asking £50 for it Will see how it goes based on Paul’s edit. I would be very interested in the Llamasoft & Level 9 stuff as well as Infocom so it will be interesting to see how it works out.
