What the? I did a double, double-take when I checked out this little title on the french bargain site Leboncoin, earlier, fellas: Does anyone here OWN this "memory game" and has anyone ever seen another title to match this one which caters for FOUR formats, somehow, on two sides of a cassette.... I presume Side A is Atari and the B side contains code for: TI-99 Thomson and the good old... ORIC! It's not often you come across such a "catholic" and quality quadra-collection - or do YOU guys know better and can quote a penta- or hexa- tape?! I do not believe I've ever seen a tape or disk with more than two systems programs on the a/b sides. Too bad it's not actually a program I'd be interested in.
Neat idea to drop multiple system versions on a single tape (I presume that the user would FF to the appropriate counter for their system's version)! But I really like that cassette storage case! Never seen the likes of that before now. --Tim
Yes, I forgot to mention I like the case too. I have a couple of unique ones, one of which being the Leader Board Golf game that Andy gave me, and a copy of the original release on tape of Sun Star, That I bought on eBay U.K., which became Solar Star in the U.S. and was released by Microdaft at the same time they released Dropzone in the U.S. as well. Both on disk in Electronic Arts style cardboard album/folders. But neither one holds a candle too that case. It looks like it's made to hold two cassettes if wanted. Leader Board is just like a standard jewel cassette case, but about 50% wider to accommodate the security key and manual. The Sun Star is like a mini video tape case in the movie rental style. Remember video stores that you drove too and rented movies on Tape, Laserdisc and DVD? In any case (no pun intended-sike!), they too, are unique to me. I've only ever owned cassettes in the standard jewel cases (most times with outer boxes though), or in the same style box that disk versions were sold in, with an insert to hold the tape or disk in place, or both, like my copies of Bruce Lee and and Temple of Apshai came. Jewel-case only cassette releases were a rarity in the States, I'm not sure if I ever even owned one, games came with outer boxes and manuals too large for a cassette case. Only music was sold in the States, generally, in only the jewel cases. I wasn't going to bother posting pictures, I have shown them on Atari Sector, but I wanted to see if maybe my Leader Board case was also big enough to fit two cassettes. I believe it is. Not quite as large as the Cubo Magico case, but large enough and a similar jewel plastic style that I think was designed for two cassettes as well. Though this case doesn't have an insert to keep the cassette and security key in place and I don't know if it ever did. Any ideas @Andy Barr ? I had the disk version back in the day and I believe it came in a cardboard box, Epyx Style with a case insert to hold the disk and security key. The original security key is just a small thing, this is my DIY security key in the picture, which I installed in the metal casing to make it easier to insert and remove than the original key.
