Gonna give these a look when it's quiet this end this avvy - cheers, Richie! Look like fun, fun, fun!
That neutroid reminds me of Taito's Space Chaser in the arcades, Rich. However, there's plenty of difference - you need to crash into things to score whereas SC you collect dots a bit like Pacman but have to avoid the ever quickening chaser. I mean the graphics here aren't anything earth shattering but how they are used, the colours and explosions and lightning effect when another object enters the inner grid are all done to the max, I think. I could definitely give this game a bit of a run out as it looks like it has a bit of that "just one more go" factor. This is a newer release, I guess, that would have stunned the CoCo users back in the day, yes? Nice work whoever's responsible - aye, Nick Marentes!
That Jumping Joey's different too - it's like Frogger Deluxe in that there are kinda challenge stages built in once you cross the road and before you get your Joey kangaroo home safe... to the lily pads!? Bit of a weird one but hey, when in Oz / Down Under, think Down Under! Graphics very colourful if blocky (it doesn't detract - it lends it more charm) though at one point I was a bit concerned about collision detection when a vehicle went through Joey and he got away scot free - never mind, only a slight criticism. The background music is really good and the sound effects are more than sufficient. I can see you and fellow CoCo / Dragon owners getting well carried away with this one, Rich, as there's so much challenge built-in as well as novelty (just like the previous title) and really good sounds and graphics for a game of this ilk/genre. Nice work, Mr Marentes and Rich for recommending
Neutroid needs 64K to run as it has 32K of sampled sound in the game and sounds pretty good. When you consider the sound capabilities of the CoCo and Dragon.
Absolutely incredible getting so much out of what many would regards as a "limited" machine, mate. I don't, I hasten to add. OK the Dragon's output is a wee bit green but I lurve the old Tandy CoCo/6809 CPUd underdog machines and am constantly impressed by what miracles are being worked on them. Many thanks for flagging these gems up, Rich.
Nice. Always had a soft spot for the Dragon 32 since frequently playing with one in Boots as a youngster. Amazing that these old classic machines still get shown so much love.
