New maison for the 1200XL

And this is a photo of the deluxe huts in Scarborough. Think a two-storey one although nice goes against the simpe life idea of having a beach hut.

 

Yeah, my old boss has just hired a beach hut at Brid and has invited me, Bev and me mam down for a cuppa and just to put our feet up, look out at the sea/relax/unwind so like you say, it can be really really good for our mental wellbeing etc.
Mind, Paul, there were some reports on the beach/sea condition of late in both Bridlington and Scarborough (increasingly becoming known as Scarbados - I think it's tongue in cheek!) and neither made good reading:

My mate Big Dave from camera club was that upset after a recent visit to Scarbados that he took to social media demanding that Yorkshire Water do something about this appalling situation (turds at 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock...high!) Absolutely stank to high heaven and you couldn't step anywhere on the sand without sinking up to your ankles in the brown stuff...

 

It wasn't me who done them, honest Gov!

 

To quote Lex Luthor in Superman, "People are no damn good" and a quote from T2, "It's in your nature to destroy yourselves"

We have nature, an awesome thing, yet we spend all day every day trying to kill it..

 

Getting back on thread with this one (we went all over there, didn't we?!),

At long long long last yesterday, the 1200XL was reunited with its rightful owner - the Count of Elancourt, Manu / Klyde himself!

This was a lovely visit for Bev and I - we drove for about 75mins through Paris to reach Manu and his family and at times the traffic was very heavy (of course the rugby world cup is on and it's a weekend of national heritage visits etc so everyman and his dog was out and about and there was also the occasional accident on the road), but it was worth the travel time there and back as Manu's family looked after us as if we were royalty - I'm not kidding you - we were treated to champagne, a most beautiful gateau that Isabelle had made and a trip out to their country pad - a chateau that some chap was looking after for them - I think they call him the Count de Breteil - but basically he's Manu's right hand man - his gopher etc.

We had the most fantastic afternoon chatting, celebrating, visiting places and as I say, being treated as if we were VIPs - it was wonderful, especially for Bev with it being her birthday on the Saturday but we hope also we brought a little celebration too to Manu and Isabelle as it happened to be their wedding anniversary day too - so a little card and a pretty plant came with us for them (no, this was not interfaced to the 1200XL, Richie... )

After we drove home, we even managed to take in one of Bev's fave films which happened to be showing in Senlis at 8:30 - Thelma and Louise - so after our road trip, we enjoyed watching with a young french audience - one helluva roadtrip that the gals in the film undertake... never to be forgotten - and ours will always be remembered with much affection and happiness too - once more, Bravo Manu et Isabelle - a special day of days!


The drive to Manu's - Paris was very busy - especially outside the Stade de France - wonder why?!


We enjoyed sumptuous and delicious hospitality


Klyde's collection was guarded by a ferocious beast - this devil had me in a headlock when I touched one of his Thomson's


This lovely guy is the Count of Bretieul - and Manu's right-hand man



At a later date I will post - with Manu's permission of course - a few more pics of his amazing horde... guys, seeing is believing - he makes my collection look very unappetising as he has so much and has many that I have never seen before (or heard of!)

OK, the sun is shining - another day's adventures await us here in sunny Senlis - on y va et a bientot tout le monde!

 

Fantastic, great to see you all had a precious time, congratulations to all who were celebrating, I hope you all had a wonderful time. Careful though Andy, Bev watching those women empowering films, get them back in the kitchen I say!!

Hey, lovely to hear from Klyde/Manu tonight and now I have his permission I will start a new thread either later on over the weekend or next week - man, he's got so much it might actually need 10 threads!!

Al, we're going to be out tomorrow with my uncle and aunt for lunch then out over tea time / tomorrow night with friends in Cottingham celebrating a birthday and Sunday... well, as you can appreciate, Bev just wants a quiet day with me getting on doing a few chores in the garden so it's unlikely I'll manage to get up to Brid (was there at Sewerby, Thur neet with me mam) or Scarboro as it'll be the 1st bit of quality time we'll have got together since we got back from our hols last weekend - it's been full on for her at the hospital etc so mate, it will have to be another time unless you fancy a nip down to us in Hull where you'd be made very welcome and might even grab yersen a bit of Sunday lunch with us... or summat, ie. a go on Commando and a twix or curly wurly?! Buddy, keeping my fingers crossed for good weather for you and another excellent experience in East Yorks. How has this week gone so far for you - do us a quick summary, fella!

 

Hi Andy. I need to be home by Sunday evening so hopefully next time.

It's been a full on week, packed a lot in so far and taken a good few pictures. Once I'm back home I'll sort out the slides and invite everyone round for a viewing and a pineapple hedgehog. Proper 70s retro right there!
