Here's a blast from the past and an old article from January 1985. Oric had already gone bust (and ended-up as a French company), Acorn and Sinclair were in trouble but from the ashes various "phoenix" projects were stirring in southern England... If only Oric's plans had come off...who knows, they could have been the kings of the Brit PC world WIMPs!
Interesting. Never knew about the MSX compatible concept. Also cool to read the Stratos being compared to an Atari 800 (no onboard basic). Okay, Andy. Hit me up with an Atmos, a Stratos and one of those prototype MSXorics you have tucked away in the Baz Cave Things sure were more fun back in the day with all the different home computer manufactures...
It was certainly a period in time when all sorts of ideas and concepts were dreamt up. The Stratos or Telestrat is the holy grail for Oric fans. The MSX is a pretty good design based around the Texas Instruments VDP and AY-3-8910 so it would have been interesting to see what Oric would have come up with.
