__________ Hey Andy, what's the auction end date for that? What are your thoughts (anyone else, too) on expired listings? Should they be trimmed as they expire out or end? Or just have the OP edit their subject line to say something like [Expired] or [Sold]? If a listing expires, sometimes the seller can still be contacted, maybe to make an offer, I mean? Whereas, Sold means the item is no longer available and that's pretty much that until the next one appears. Should the listing here be deleted, as well? Another advantage I can think of in having an OP edit the subject line and retain the listings is that it will provide anyone wanting to get a feel for how much an item is going for on the market by considering the trending across the listings. Thoughts? Mental meanderings? --Tim
I think such posts should just be deleted, unless the post turns into an active discussion thread, then have an [expired] or [sold] in the subject. No sense in keeping posts of only dead auctions with no interesting discussion attached though.
Hi, Tim. It's a BUY IT NOW at £5.95 so no end date. I don't mind how auction listings are handled - they seem to work fine on A.S. by mentioning the end date/BIN info and Brenski sometimes kept an eye on the old expired ones and sometimes I would hoover up my old spent ads - what do the other guys think - I go along with Matt's suggestion about purging the old ones - and creating spin offs where folks have an interesting angle on a sale thread.
