So I am looking for a guide to how much I should pay for a decent condition Atari 800 computer? I want to add one to my Atari collection.
Rich, Paul's correct in saying they usually sail over the £250 mark (that's even for one without a box and PSU, ie. just the basic unit with sometimes the odd cracked bit of casing or even a key/space bar missing!) Again, as Paul points out £300+ would get you a good one with some gear with it and maybe a box. Maybe we should set an Atari Owner challenge to try and target one over the hols - or New Year - which might set Richie up for making a winning bid in the... sub-£250 range. CAN IT BE DONE? Let's see what we can do... They are, arguably, THE RETRO machine of choice for many an Atarian. ABOVE: The old "battle tank" takes some beating in the sheer retro class appearance stakes - a gorgeous keyboard to die for and that futuristic feel with the four joystick ports, 'muddy' yellow console keys and god, it's oozing modding expandability - just ask Matt!
I know Beamer is selling one on eBay for £300 so was trying to see if it was a fair price. Might miss out on that one but the next one perhaps.
It looks pretty good with a stack of software and goodies with it. I'd be tempted to contact Beamer, tell him yer an old Sectorist and he sometimes gives a discount, Rich. He's knocked a few quid off for me before now - it's worth a stab - maybe offer him £275?
