Very good feedback and comments there, fellas.

Haven't a scooby what any of the games are which you guys refer to and clearly know like the backs of your hands but like you say, some start-up game boy/gal would surely get a Dreamcast of a buzz out of this gear and as Paul intimates, the seller might take an offer, who knows?

Not for me though I hasten to add!

You guys are the later-retro cool dude console gamers - I'm 8bit Baz still stuck in 82/83 and maybe 84 at a push :)

    Yup, sounds like Red Steel.

I have Wind Waker on the GC, brought it the second it landed. Same with the Metroid games on the GC, hell, got a US import of Prime, well that and an Action Replay to play it via. We had just got back from Orlando and they had a playable demo in the now gone HUGE toyshop on International Drive. I was in love, Cindy offered to buy a US Gamecube and the game, but I thought I would get hassle from customs, so got back and got it from an import shop. One nice Zelda thing we have is the Zelda big old art book. Not cheap, but it was when Serena was in Hospital. Lovely book as well.

Although I own a Wii I normally just play them on Dolphin, nice that you can use a Mayflash optical board (just the IR board from the real Wii but usb) with your real Wiimote and nunchuck. Also paired up a PS4 controller (with drivers) to use on the PS3 emu, Resistance 3 has parts where you turn the controller like you are driving, to unlock barriers.

    Great fun...

Oops, I did it again :loopy:
A couple of new to me additions to the cave on the console front today. I'll try and post some pictures up if I get a chance tomorrow night. In the meantime, guesses on the back of a postcard. Anyone who guesses correct gets our version of the Golden Joystick. It's called the Golden Joyshite and has been kindly donated by Paul as he couldn't manage to flush away his latest monster :D

Well here we are, the latest additions and supplements to my retro mancave.

    1) Atari 2600 tin signs. There is nothing I like more than a good vintage looking tin sign so when I saw these three clasic game ones they had to get added to the cave, and the perfect spot was right next to my 80's style Atari corner.
    2600.jpg

    2) New screens for old looking new tech. After buying a portable 15" hdmi monitor to use with my Anbernic and being so impressed with it I ended up getting another for the A500 Mini and The Vic20. Picture quality is great and the screen size is perfect for a bit of old school gaming, just like on a 14" crt telly used to be. Added a couple of little tablet stands to make them fully adjustable and more than happy with the results.

    3) Sega Master System. Always had a soft spot for this particular system because of its fun games and lovely colour palette. When I got the chance to acquire a nice condition one I grabbed it. Only have Hang On (built-in) and Enduro Racer for it but am putting together a list of a few other titles to seek out.

    4) Playstation Console. And so it wouldn't feel out of place I have ended up with an original Playstation as well. Wasn't even on my radar but it came along with the Master System and I have already thought of a specific use for it (see no.5 below)
    psx.jpg

    5) NecGon Controller. This is an analogue pad for the PS1 and PS2 that twists on it's centre axis for driving games. Being a big arcade racer fan I had always wanted to give one a try but never had the opportunity. Fast forward to last month and while at the Game On video games exhibition in Edinburgh they had one attached to a Playstation wtih Ridge Racer. Well I just had to give it a go, didn't I? Took a couple of plays but started getting used to it and actually enjoying the movement. A quick trip to EBay and I now have my very own NecGon. It is now plugged into the above Playstation along with all the original PS1 Ridge Racer dervied games and I've already started to improve my lap times. What a smashing controller it is :) Next step is to pick up some more NecGon compatible racers and have more high speed fun.

I think that is just about everything for now fellow Atarians. I'm going to go away and quietly sell another Kidney and put together an updated hit-list of games and hardware wants :)

Lurving both the Atari tin signs and those dinky 15" HDMI monitors - narce bites there, Al!

If you don't mind me asking, how much approx were the wee monitors, mate?

Once more, your retro haul gets another boost and those shelves are beginning to sag as they are carrying so much stock... if you ever need to orfload you know where I am, buddy :) !

Excellent work, Al - it makes working all worthwhile a few tempting treats from time to time (well, that's what I keep telling myself but did I tell you fellas, I've got that beginning of year £10k + debt reet down to less than £5k now so I'm gitting there, so sod it - life's for living).

Brilliant news on the credit card front Andy. You can almost afford an Oric floppy drive now!

The monitors were pennies under £80 each but I'm really pleased with them. There are loads on Amazon and I did try others first but these two seemed the best quality/interface wise. I was also suprised at how decent the sound quality was.

The Atari 1029 may go at some point but I'm not sure. Seeing that LC10 of yours got me thinking and then I realised that I never actually had a printer for my 800XL. It wasn't until I got an ST that I bought an LC10 and joined the dot-matrix revolution. So now an LC10 is on my retro wants list :)

Here is a good video about the NecGon controller. I've now worked up a list of about a dozen games I want to collect for it.

Oddly, I sold those but never tried one out (slightly lapse in recommending a product you have not used). Loved Ridge Racer, used to got to a rival shop to play on their import version of Ridge Racer, we could not have those as an official supplier.

If you want a real retro printer that was all over the place at the time, get an Epson FX-80, the one with the graf-trax chips in. That my not be the correct spelling. I didn't know anyone who had a different printer, apart from the Atari own brand..

The NecGon really makes a difference with Ridge Racer, feels like you have much more precise control. Looking forward to trying it on some other games.

My first printer was an LC-10 so that's why I'd go for that over an Epson FX-80 (that always seemed like a printer you would only see in offices, you know, with it being a genuine Epson printer). The one printer range I was never a fan of was the Citizen, the 120D and Swift models. Although we sold them by the bucketload in Silica they always seemed a bit fragile and prone to mechanical breakdowns. I do remember going to down to London with my then girlfriend for a BJ though. Right you lot, stop sniggering at the back. You know fine well I meant a Canon BubbleJet :)

Came home from work today to find that the DDI-5 for my Amstrad had finally arrived. Left on the doorstep by lovely Mr Postman....

For those of you who might not know it's a Gotek floppy drive replacment for the 464 that also comes with Parados and a built in 512k ram expansion. Had it up and running after a couple of minutes, and my oh my some of those Amstrad games are lovely looking on original hardware with the colour monitor. I'm still thinking about selling the kit, but playing stuff like Arkanoid Revenge of Doh and Pinball Fantasies on this makes it a difficult decision.

HANG ON TO YOUR VALUABLES, AL!
Tis a beauty the old 464 and doesn't it play Pinball Fantasies as well as a 16bitter?
Lovely bit of kit you've acquired today, buddy - enjoy it to the max, mate.

Hey, I had a BJ as well, I'd pretty much forgotten about it till you said the name. Nice little printer too. I'll look and see what Negcons go for..A little bit of analogue control never hurt anyone.

I have gone and bought another Dragon 32 to add to my collection of 6809 Kit. If anyone has some Dragon software or literature kicking around I'm looking for stuff.
I don't know if it's working or not - it was sold as untested but we shall see. Looks in nice nick.

A little bit of time off work this afternoon so had a quick drive down to my pal's shop Forgotten Worlds and picked up some Playstation One games with a memory card and Leaderboard for the Master System. Almost all were on my wants list so a good haul.

The floppy drive and attached box is a Greaseweazle which lets your PC read ST and Amiga disks and convert them to image files. Was kindly able to borrow it from a local Amiga user group member to try out. I'll write up my findings when I get a chance but have had a couple of success stories so far with it :)

Nice work, Al. Some great titles there for the ol PS - for some reason the Wrecking Crew title artwork reminds me of the Americana/US Gold Atari tapes from the mid-80s - anyone else get the same feel? Maybe just me!

Hope you have loads of fun with the greaseweazle interface and creation of image files too - just up your street, mate.

PS, Totally off topic, sorry, but would you say, fellas, that this is an example of crappy AI imagery - it thinks it's so clever yet gets it so utterly wrong when you start to look at the little details? I think Paul drew attention to this kind of thing the other week:

It was the cover of Wreckin Crew that made me buy it Andy and yes, I did think Americana too when I saw it at first :)

I've found a very neat program that integrates ST/Amiga floppy disks into the Windows shell so have already recovered a couple of old catalogue disks and created a floppy of Sensible Soccer from an ST image file.

That picture just doesn't do it for me. Way too fake looking.

Agreed, Al - the pic is sickeningly fake as it TRIES to engage with our sentimentality of these golden times but fails all hands down by being totally inaccurate.
Fancy you also being reminded of the old Americana label too - bizarre!
I really like the sound of the neat util you're using to integrate ST/Amiga floppies - could you share some screenshots / the process with us?
Have a top weekend all and still no sign of the MUCH DELAYED Evri Atari Anniversary edition console, fellas.
I've now raised this as an issue with the seller and will raise it with Feebay next if the seller does not apply any heat on that pile of shit courier company... :)
    Cheers, guys.

Sorry to hear that Never-ri are just scumbags, sounds like one of the drivers has helped themselves but will claim to have 'lost' it. When they were Hermes we had a young woman doing the deliveries, she was great (and very easy on the eye), always got our gear and really polite. When it became Evri she was gone and stuff started going wrong.

Enjoy the busy weekend you have there Andy, you seem to have the weather as well...Nice one..Hope you and Bev have super time.

The gear that Al has simply plugs into the PC, you run a reader software and it examines the disk bit by bit, I think it then saves a file out, and then you run a file builder for the machine it's for. I'd been keen to see the process and software on screen myself.

PS, when I mentioned the weather, it was blue sky here, now it looks rough, hope I have not jinxed it

I was planning on posting some pictures or a little video at some point. The latest software available makes it really straightforward.
