Hey there, everyone! First, thanks, Graham, for your PM! I thought maybe just posting outright would help allay any concerns. Things are still full-tilt with the new job at the shop, consuming all my attention and energies. I have NO IDEA how they managed to keep the place going, as disorganized as they are there. Sure, something might WORK but that doesn't mean it's working EFFICIENTLY. Anyhow, my available time has been knocked out for now, so I haven't been able to check in-- much less, engage!-- here, but it looks like others have been posting so I really appreciate seeing and knowing that. I still have a dungeon full of Atari hardware that needs to be rehomed, as well, and I'm hoping that things smooth out as I make some additional changes at the shop, management-wise, to use that as a mailing hub to send shipments out from once I'm able to start working on the excess Atari hardware-- itemizing and checking and then listing for adoption. Thankfully, the income has been solid, helping to catch up on some bills that were being rather challenging on a very limited income. Right now, it's been north of 45 hours a week, though, at the shop both learning the ropes and tweaking into the semblance of sanity. Then, of course, there's squeezing all of the chores (mowing etc) into the weekends. I'm sure at some point the working life will slow again, just so long as it's not so slow that it leaves me ungainfully unemployed, as it were, again. Well Tim at least you have a good excuse. My productivity went through the floor, and I'd gotten to the point I just didn't care. I'm still a bit careful to say it; but much improved, and seems to be staying that way. I'm glad that the money has come in handy, however it sounds a nightmare, as long as you can sort out the issues one or more at a time, I'm sure your time will be very much more productive from the efficiencies gained. As an aside do you recognise the name John Nagy at all, used to run the Atari CHAOS (or similar) BBS 30 plus years ago, and yes I appreciate Michigan isn't a small state but maybe the common interest may spark a memory. Just make sure to look after yourself and find time to be together.

What little I know of John Nagy is from the few email exchanges we had when I asked him to let me design some ATASCII animated welcome screens for the C.H.A.O.S. BBS, although it was pretty much dead in the water by the time I discovered the Club or the site. I think Mr. Nagy also turned over the BBS not long after that. I wish I still had those welcome screens because they were pretty decent stuff. I loved being able to do animated ATASCII stuff, and was fascinated by those on the various BBSes I was discovering back then. I think I went to a single CHAOS meeting, when they still had them in that bank in East Lansing, but this was at the tail-end of the Atari 8-bit and attendance was a couple guys-- John wasn't there, either. Some PD disks were being sold, but beyond that, nothing that I remember from going. --Tim
Wow it's a bloody small world at times.. I used to converse with John and he used to send me out the club magazines, I'd send back similar bits from the UK. I was hopeing to find some of them but I think they were among the 'block' of waterlogged paper' I'd found
Things continue to be 10-11 hour days for me with the new career, but at least I survived those first 8 weeks. WOW! Boot camp to the extreme! I still need to get the remainder of recovered Atari Sectors up here for everyone— I have NOT forgotten!!!— and it's great seeing some new updates and postings during my absence. Hi Tim Those few months seem to have gone really quickly. I'm sorry to hear the amount of time your having to still put in, I'm hopeing that beccause of the hours your able to use the roads when theres less traffic to add to the stresses In someways it must be nice to get home and spend some time with family and not have to worry about this board that connects us all from across the globe. I'm sure it's busier at times, and quiet at others but it's there when we get a chance to sit down and have some keyboard time. As long as you are keeping well, I'm sure the AS styff can stay on the back burner until you have more time on your hands. For now I'll wish you both well, and I'm sure I speak for us all on here.
P.S I think you may need to expand on the '6502' as we seem to have picked up Dragons & Amstrad CPC's & the odd spectrum , better add 6809 & Z80's to the mix..
Indeed, Graham - I'd also like to wish Tim and family all the success going and of course an ever-expanding retro scene here at Atari Owner as we also embrace those other "exotic machines" and CPUs too: the more, the merrier!
