You need not have bothered Matt, I more than anyone use this place to sound off a bit, sometimes it nice to let off some steam and its not like it was offensive or attacking anyone..

Sport in general brings out very strong feelings, there's a massive emotional attachment to sport. Here in the UK especially in the North its almost sacrilege to say anything bad about football or a team, certain sports are taken very seriously as they are in most parts of the world. Sometimes too seriously but there's nothing wrong with loyalty to a team or a sport.

As for the 'pansification' of sport, that was a bit of a joke as I know people who love their pro football will react on that :)

I for one would not like to be in a match with those guys in the teams, they hit hard and you stay down, big extremely hard men...

Sport works because of the aggression and the skill, take one of those out and its dull as dishwater but that's not to say it can't be as safe as possible with little tweaks like banning studs up tackles in football. Not only is it quite a danger but its knock on effects ruin it for the supporters.

Do we ban solid contact, no, a good tackle is often a bit of a thump but its part of the game..Ban the play actors though, dropping to the ground at the slightest touch begging for penalties and free kicks, they ruin it for the fans..

PS, were there any chats last night?

By the time I got back in after dropping my daughters key card it was nigh on 10pm, was going really well but another big accident slowed it all down..

I thought any second I'm going to be stopped and asked why I'm so far out of area and fined, made worse that I'd already done the same journey once that night and literally back to back..

    But all's well...Hope there was a chat

I know, and I appreciate it, but I went way off of sports and into life philosophies and decided this morning when I re-read it that it was just a bit too much, even though I think most of you guys would agree with what I said, it was just far too off topic.

That's the good thing about on here Matt. Because we're a small group who mostly know each other a bit now we don't really mind I think if someone goes off topic.

Now, if you had posted the same in the 8bit section of AtariAge :D

LOL! I agree with you there. I watched about 2 minutes of it, when the Buccaneers were going for the touchdown on 4th down and didn't make it, then checked back for a second later on and saw it was a blow-out. It did seem to prove that the Patriot's winning history was indeed a lot more to do with Brady then Belichick, considering how the Patriot's did this year without Brady, and how the long-time loser Buccaneer's did this year with Brady.

I had a discussion with my brother after the game last night about this and he disagreed because the Patriot's made it to the play-offs without Brady one year, I just shook my head and walked away, because I didn't want to argue and I think he, in fact, made my point because even the my Bears make it to the place offs about every other year, but they've sucked for a long time too; it's not that hard to make the play-offs, and even easier now that they have two more wild card spots, but making it through the play-offs is another story completely. My brother is a smart guy, and thinks he's smarter than me, but he's not.

My brother on paper is smarter than me and is indeed well educated but he has zero common sense, that makes him pretty stupid.. :)

I don't know what Scotland is like but looking out at the smattering of snow here makes me feel bloody cold...

    Matts probably in shorts :)

Oh, God, NO! Never there. I made a one-line comment about loathing woman who have lots of tattoos and piercings over there yesterday and caught shit for being "judgemental." But the fact is, there is a type that does that, and I've known plenty, so my judgement was based on extensive experience. And so yes, I pre-judge that "type" of woman. But it pissed off a couple guys over there that I generally get along with.

Ha...Missed that...Some of the people on there need bloody big ladders to get on their high horses as they do...

Brenski tried similar with me on the AA forum, I was talking about our filing system in Maplin that was done on an Atari and typed in by our secretary. I just mentioned that she knew nothing about computers and next thing Brenski is doing the putting women down line..

I just said, No, I worked with her for years and even she admitted she knew nothing about computers...

Simple experience....Karen was a really nice woman, very pretty, smoked far too much but had no knowledge of computer bar being a good typist.

It's in the 'images generated by Rastaconverter' thread.
LOL! Usually you would be right, we are usually getting warm enough by now, but we've had another Arctic front reach us down here this week and it's below freezing today with icy roads and lots of accidents from people that don't know better (I grew up in the north where it's a normal thing this time of year). But I'm well clothed and huddling near our wood-burning stove today. I heard it's a negative 50 degrees F. up in Wisconsin, where I used to live, today! We are at 28F right now.

That's a no go this end, guys.

Sun 14 Feb at 8pm will be watching some rom com/filim with the missus, lads.

I'm up for earlier - say anytime 3ish-4pm-ish - but later on, reserved for Bev.

    Cheers.

O.K 3PM I don't really mind. Valatines day haunts me as I nearly died that date , be 12 years ago, and only down to a team of surgeons and medical staff that I'm here today ... ruined their evening I'm sure.

It wasn't very nice but caused as a result of back surgery I'd had a few days before, Thankfully all over now. and my back is holding up for longer than the 5 years they predicted .. Don't want a repeat but I guess in time I may have to.
It's a shame in sum respects as it should be a great day for us and our loved ones, Just my thought tend to wonder ..
I'm sure you get what I mean ..

So how are you with 3PM Paul ?

As said I'm game, there has been a massive development at the in laws but its not going to affect my plans..

Seems my sister in law wrote her mums will and has the only copy and refusing to show it...

    Could get VERY messy..

Ah it's been a good couple of days, one neighbour saw me coming in and waited for me, she told me that the people above have just been given a verbal warning for the noise and even better she vindicated me from being part of the problem and confirmed that the bitch in the flat had lied on numerous occasions and confirmed that I'd been called a peadophile as well as other things by the woman. The council were not happy and warned her.

She furious up there and hates telling the kids to be quiet and now the spoilt brats are getting annoyed that they can't do what they like and giving her grief. Its not perfect and there still is noise but she's now one down the line with a written warning looming..

Personally I'm actually hoping she goes mad and lets the kids do as they like so the written warning gets done. after that its kick out of the flat time..

She is simply so mad in the head its likely I'll finally get rid of these arseholes for good.....I may have to take some grief but the end result could be good...
