Ha, it's so thin on top now I'll grow it out once more and then its the close razor all over..Don't like the Prince William look..
Never really been a American Football fan, tried to play the Madden games but like Rugby it failed to appeal. I am not trying to say its like rugby in play, just a little similar
The reason I've watched the odd one is that they have all the big film trailers during them....nysavant, M.D.Baker, Andy Barr and 1 other person like this. -
by Paul "Mclaneinc" IrvineI'm not getting in to that one

These US Football fans take it very seriously and I will not say that without the body amour they are a pile of pansies...
Pelaton bike, oh how very dare you, you'll be only shopping at Waitrose next or have a sign for the houses name with something like "The Barr residence" on...Andy Barr, Graham, M.D.Baker and 1 other person like this. -

Hi, Paul.
Rotten luck you getting it in the ear again, mate.
You missed me embracing the New Year by getting amorous with an Atmos and Al showed us all what he keeps under his kilt...
A spare Amstrad 6128(!)
Graham absolutely blew the pair of us away by taking us on a techie tour of his mancave workshop and my... what he hasn't got in there isn't worth having.
He's got pulse rifles, shape shifters, time distorters, energy matter transformers and Ataris and it's basically it's all compatible with a standard ZX81 - so long as you have the non-wobble 128mb RAM pack.
We really had quite a hoot and certainly kept one another amused and enthralled for the TWO HOURS (as near as damn it) as we went through the trials and tribulations of: Christmas, t-shirts, socks, weighing machines, parachutes for safely getting around Baz's biome, SD devices, interfaces, Memotechs, Orics (of course), 3" disk drives, Atari expansions (every mother known to man and then some), Amstrad 6128s, ZX Spectrums, C64 add on virtual disk/tape drives, getting married in a sock...(?!) plus an incredible talk from Graham on bouncing morse code radio signals off the moon - I kid ye not.
A few pics then of the "action" and we very much hope that other Atari Owners tune in with us perhaps the same time next week?
GRAHAM seeking out signs of Al and Baz in the ether... Anyone there, chaps?
BAZ peers into just one of Graham's "box of tricks" (he's got approx 64,000 of these)
Nysavant Al reveals his all new Sinclair black beastie much to the pleasure of Baz and Graham
YOU CAN NEVER have enough retro micro t-shirts and Graham did well in that department.
Present then today - just the frantic three - Graham, Al and I.
We hope more might join us for a Google Meet next week folks as of course you'll be very very welcome to stretch our imaginations and knowledge banks - as well as our chuckle muscles - even further. -

Looks like I missed a good natter, again my apologies, as people who have seen me on them know that I enjoy them immensely, its nothing personal, just a combination of the idiots above and how depressed it makes me feel...But as my daughter is going back today it gave us a chance to have a nice meal together as she can't come back for her birthday on the 23rd due to covin / uni rules...21 in a cramped room surrounded by teenage drunks / druggies, now that is how to celebrate

But we have had a nice time despite the people above..
Next time fella's.....You need a handsome chap like myself to give the chats a bit of sex appeal...
Just noticed out the window that we have a Kite circling the fields, nice to see in a built up area, hopefully he will sort out the rats around here.. -

They;re very obliging, Graham, old Giff Gaff.
A friend put me on to them... hmm, about 6-7 years ago and I've just taken him up on his advice.
For just £6 (monthly) ALL IN - all my texts and calls - that's all I need - they sent me a SIM and the destructions on how to sign up, get my PAC from O2 and then the rest is history. I had always steered away from some long drawn out "divorce" from O2 where they would try and offer me this that and the other to stay - but with this they had no choice - it was a done deal. I was fed up of them always trying to flog me crap I didn't need and of course the once £9.99 deal a month had crept up to £12 then £14 and should I send anyone any pics during my month's billing you betcha they'd suddenly hike it up to £18-20-22 sometimes. Bar stewards were taking the piss.
Giff Gaff didn't even pry into my "marriage" with my original phone from 2003-04... this solid gold Nokia "brick". If they had known, I think they would have run away screaming from the negotiations:
Bev, thanks for asking, is healing fine within her leg and the fractured bones... what they are a little concerned about is her wound in that there is a small part which is not closing up. Last week they gave her antibiotics as there was some blood around it and this week.... hmm, that should have healed by now. So, we now have a lighter pot which we can remove when she is laid in bed resting and we hope that more air circulating about the bandages will help this healing as at the moment, part of the cast is rubbing against the bit that is having trouble healing... we think that is the issue.
Other than that, I don't mind admitting that I'm run ragged at home, gents. I have never been much of a "man about the house" and now I'm learning the hard way. Bev usually does 90% of things around the place so suddenly the roles are dramatically reversed and I've gone from 10% to me now doing 95% (she still helps make the bed...whilst laid there!!). I;ve got the cleaning, tidying, vaccing, clothes washing/drying/putting away (I don't IRON!), washing up, bins and rubbish/recycling to sort/put out, cat to sort/litter tray to puke in/empty, bit of gardening/tidying/cutting back, shopping to go and collect - then putting it all away - takes me forever (not to mention use by dates to check), cooking, preparing, fetching, carrying and of course caring... making sure she gets all her drinks, meds, calcium and protein rich food for those bones and so on...oh, and I'm supposed to be working full time from home. fellas, I am shattered.
Anyhow, onwards and upwards.
Hope to catch you all soon for a natter.
Have a damn good weekend and get some good rest - I know I'll sleep for ruddy England...(!)
Hope Paul and the lads can join the next link up and we get a time, say anytime 8pm-10pm that suits the majority of the gang (though this might in itself squeeze others out who are heading to bed with their other halves and making their cocoas!!). We can't please em all, Graham!Paul "Mclaneinc" Irvine, Graham and nysavant like this. -

Hi everybody. Didn't browse this thread before tonight. It's an excellent idea to get together live sometimes. I couldn't join you on Thursday night as I was actually in another video meeting with some friends in Rome, but I'll follow this thread to look forward to the next online chat. Hope to get Manu with us, so that even somebody (me) who understands half of the English that you speak will be with you... and the meeting will also be a bit more European, after all.

Hi Dave
Well it would be very nice to see both you and Manu.
So far we havn't attracted anyone from the States, and this was our first attempt at a video call during the week.
I think Thursdays are difficult for Andy B. But as long as we all agree it's what ever days/times suit the majority.
If you and Manu can suggest a day and a time go for it !!
-
by Andy Barr
That would indeed be really, really good, Dave.
I was going to say to the lads last night, but time beat us, that it would be great to touch base with Manu and Richie again as we really miss those guys and of course it would be amazing to have yourself, Andy Vulcanman & Matt and Tim sometime too.
We realise though that time differences, being busy at home/helping family and being there for sick friends and neighbours etc makes it a job arranging these online chats to fit in with everyone's availability so we'll just carry on trying these link ups when folks tells us is the best time for them and attempting to go with the majority etc. -

I have to agree with them Andy, it was a great summation, I almost felt as if I was there (and when I say "there" I mean on that beach with Andy, I could care less about the rest of you after seeing those pics!
), hopefully I'll get my audio/visual input shit together to join you guys soon! And just so you guys know, it was @Graham only that was up to 4am conversing with me, it was merely 10pm here at the time...It was an interesting enough "conversation" that I would have, but that means he, or any of you would have to start posting early morning until 10am to keep me up that late! And it had better start before 6am because that's as late as I usually stay up (your time).

Hi Guys
I've just created a link https://meet.google.com/hrp-xude-rzb
I'll be on at 8
M and hang around for about 30 mins to see if anyone shows up.
I'm happy to do next week as well, but if Peeps have a prefered time better let us all know.
I'm hoping that David & Klyde will join, and gives Matt a whole week to sort out a webcam for his Fuji-Net based Web exploits.

I'm still unsure of when Serena is going and what the traffic is like, if I make it back for then I'll jump on..I think we will be going around 4pm but my daughter has a special super power, the power to miss every deadline going

The last journey was 3hrs (there and back) but that involved a huge diversion at The Oval, my cunning plan is to go via the South Circular and hope I miss out on all the traffic..
Sadly most of my cunning plans come off the rails

The league have turned into pansies, not the players. They don't let them hit like the used too. If the '85 Bears were around today they'd be thrown out of the pansy league! But I only watch the Superbowl myself if the Bears make it, which is about once every 20 years or so, so I rarely watch the Super Bowl myself, I just don't give a damn who's playing and who wins if it's not my team. I only watch games for other teams if it impacts the Bears. But Rugby is played a lot differently, the "full contact" isn't quite the same as American football, so there's less need for body armor. The NFL started out a hundred years ago like Rugby, with barely any protection, but after many deaths from broken necks and severe concussions, and crippling for life, they started adding more armor over the years. Of course I don't know the history of Rugby and deaths or maiming, but if there were/are as many as the NFL then and still no body armor, well then that's just plane stupidity. Even the Gladiators of old, who knew death was a certainty for someone, they wore body armor, so were they just a bunch of pansies too?

You need not have bothered Matt, I more than anyone use this place to sound off a bit, sometimes it nice to let off some steam and its not like it was offensive or attacking anyone..
Sport in general brings out very strong feelings, there's a massive emotional attachment to sport. Here in the UK especially in the North its almost sacrilege to say anything bad about football or a team, certain sports are taken very seriously as they are in most parts of the world. Sometimes too seriously but there's nothing wrong with loyalty to a team or a sport.
As for the 'pansification' of sport, that was a bit of a joke as I know people who love their pro football will react on that
I for one would not like to be in a match with those guys in the teams, they hit hard and you stay down, big extremely hard men...
Sport works because of the aggression and the skill, take one of those out and its dull as dishwater but that's not to say it can't be as safe as possible with little tweaks like banning studs up tackles in football. Not only is it quite a danger but its knock on effects ruin it for the supporters.
Do we ban solid contact, no, a good tackle is often a bit of a thump but its part of the game..Ban the play actors though, dropping to the ground at the slightest touch begging for penalties and free kicks, they ruin it for the fans.. -

My brother on paper is smarter than me and is indeed well educated but he has zero common sense, that makes him pretty stupid..

I don't know what Scotland is like but looking out at the smattering of snow here makes me feel bloody cold...
Matts probably in shorts
