Some how I missed this checking in thread until now Tim. It's great to here from you. I was just attempting to leave a message in your profile, but it was over the 420 character limit (it sure would be nice if a counter could show how many characters have been used) Then I copied it and was going to PM the message to you, but I couldn't find an option anywhere in your profile for PM's. So I checked your recent posts and stumbled upon this thread. Anyway, I'll just paste the original message here for you, even though most of my questions and worries have been answered in your post above.

Hello Timothy, I'm checking in to see how you are doing. It has been a very long time since you have participated. I see that you still drop in to see what condition the condition is in every once in a while, so I know you are still alive, and probably still just very busy with work and life. But I really miss you and our conversations both public and private. I don't know how much you've been keeping up with the actual goings-on around here, but Graham and I (mostly Graham)have been busy with dual-PIA stuff, and knowing how interested you are in the PIA and networking, I'm really missing your input on such things, even though the real meat of our discussions on the matter (Graham and I) have been in private messages, there have been post sprinkled into a bunch of threads of all different topics, where we've temporarily de-railed them.

One of the things I think you might be the most excited about with the dual-PIA project (we've got completed and assembled boards now, installed in our Atari's) has to do with the 2nd PIA's CA1&2 and CB1&2 pins, which are for communication, are being used in place of POTS (paddle lines) which are controlled by the Pokey on ports 1-4 on the 400/800 and 1-2 on the XL/XE. We decided the 8 pot lines were enough and instead we'd make use of some of the PIA's unused pins on the new ports 5-8.

Anyway, I hope you and your wife and any other family are all well and haven't had to deal with COVID, and everything else is going well for you and that it's merely a lack of time that has caused you to not participate at all, since early 2020 and really in 2019 or even 2018 the last time we had a conversation. I hope you still have at least your favorites in your Atari collection and haven't had to let some or all of it go for any reason.

The board, as you may know, has been active on a daily basis from about a half-dozen of us members, but it's definitely still only a shadow of it's former self without you around.

As for us lot, we are muddling through the usual and not so usual problems in life..

Might be worth a note on the main screen re the spamming issues and asking would be users to email you directly (if you have time)..

Hi Tim! Isn't there a usefull antispam plug-in available for this forum maybe? You could then let the regisrations open...

 

Hi Tim, obviously work and family come first, but hope you can find more time to join us among the threads of AOC. Honestly I was also surprised to learn that you work for a TV-appliance repair shop, because where I live there are none. No more technicians around here and the repairing is simply discouraged by the enormous costs involved. People just throw away their old TVs (even LED or LCD models) and buy a new one.
