Right: the XLP model is for the 1200XL because it covers the 5V with its own power source, which stock 1200XL systems lack, of course. But this would only really matter if someone is buying it to use with their (stock) 1200XL anyhow— because they may not realize it requires a power source to compensate on a 1200XL and think it's not a working unit.

The seller adverts it for the 800XL, which works fine with the XLP model of the Ape-Face interface since it provides a 5V line at SIO. As does the standard Ape-Face model, of course.

Got a few of those XLP APE-FACE adapters myself. Those are for the 1200XLs, specifically.

Buyer precaution: The seller states that the unit is tested, but I do not see the mandatory power cabling for the 1200XL to use this unit— so it's possible that the seller tested it with an 800XL or 130XE or even 800 and it would work fine on those units. If someone is buying this because it is the 1200XL model, they will need to track down a power source for the APE-FACE XLP version.
