Good luck Andy, I hate dealing with (so called) tech support, it's normally a person with no clue reading a script. As I'm pretty savvy re all this, I just like to get a person who is REAL tech support, so I can tell him exactly what he needs to know so the process is as quick as possible. Luckily, we have had very few faults with the current provider, and from the 80mb line I get bang on the full bandwidth. Had a few companies promise a higher speed for less but every time you ask when, it's "not in your area yet".
Watch out for them trying the old "if it's not a fault of ours, we will charge you many quids", I just say, "well you charge me, and I'll cancel the contract as soon as possible"Andy Barr likes this. -

As soon as I get a mo, mate, I will.
For now, I am "hacked" in to the router next door as the kind students gave me their code... meanwhile, at ours, after only 19 days with our new Grain Internet company, we have NO INTERNET and a ruddy great red light on the faulty router and their customer service team has only got back to me now... after a 36hr delay from me 1st informing them of this fault (all day they have failed to return my 4 calls and a work's email), so we expect an engineer visit in the morning... watch this space, my ol mate... the moral here is to stick with the more expensive but better manned support team of your existing internet provider... providing they aint too uncompetitive (I went from £35.50 to £19.99 a month). Wish I hadn't bothered now... -

That sounds like spot on cast iron knowledgeable and expert advice to me and I'll be ready for em tomorrow, Paul. They're now threatening to come round and fix it 1st thing in morn so we'll see and I'll let you know... it's taken an escalation to complaint status to get them to respond. Crap service, so far. Cheers once more, Paul. You know what you're talking about and I wish more of them did.
