The guy has decided he doesn’t want a MSX after all
He said he’s looked at the games and decided he wants a C64 instead and neither my 64 or 128 are for sale. I tried to offer him the CPC but he was having none of it. So the deal is off.

That being said it might have been a blessing in disguise. It turns out this little beauty is even rarer than I thought. I had put a post on a MSX forum but with some pictures, one of which was of the makers sticker with the serial number. Turns out this is very,very low as in number 17 off the production line. I have no idea how many HX-22GB models were made but that is really low. I have never owned anything like that before and to be honest I never really check the serial numbers but I will do from now on. So it was a reluctant sale beforehand and now I really don’t want to part with it.

So my MSX is staying put and so I went and brought a Uridium cart for it yesterday once I knew it was not going anywhere as a birthday present for myself.

Just shows you, every cloud etc - you get a sale fall through BUT you come to discover that you have a rare bird on your hand that could do with some more lurve and appreciation (and re-appraisal on price/value).
What a great discovery, fella - no.17 off the production line is amazing.
My mate Shaun down the road in Cottingham has a TRS-80 he's been trying to shift for yonks - at least 2-3 years - and it's got something like No.128 as a serial number and whatever he does to advertise that little beaut, no one seems to know (and he aint asking much last time I enquired).
Yet there is no doubting that a low serial number definitely adds to the value of the beast and adds another layer of mystique/attractiveness as you get your head around thinking "Hell, this one was one of the first to appear - that's gotta be another element of awe and wonder"
You do reet splashing out and getting yourself another little goodie for the HX-22GB.
It's the least that you and it deserve on your boffday, bud.

I have a pal with a retro shop up here in Scotland and he has a couple of MSX machines but the one that always catches my eye is an MSX on a chip system. Way beyond my price range though!

 

Glad you got a quick sale then, Rich and here's hoping it made what you were hoping for.

Only ever clapped eyes on one MSX machine briefly back in 87-88...they seemed to appear too late in terms of the 8bit scene and of course the ST/Amiga craze had already well and truly started and we were all headed over to that party.

Still, they packed a lot of power for your buck and I know there are plenty of fans of the platform out there still raving about the quality of some of the titles which were released for this standard.

 

I am selling this HX-22 on it’s own if anyone wants an MSX computer. I have two Mitsubishi ML MSX1’s now so this is going spare. Comes with a SCART lead and MSX Basic manual.

It's an absolute belter and IF I'd ever dabbled with one then I reckon I would now be making a move but alas I never and so it's another beautiful strange and exotic to my eyes beast that I should really let pass on to more passionate pastures new than mine.
