Whoooooah, you had loads more than me...I had what felt like a lot but nowhere near those numbers.. (let alone the space to keep them..)
This might "stir the loins" Al, a while back I got the worlds largest Amiga torrent collection, 120gig by a set of French guys, it had loads of stuff on it, but it's also got the stuff that was listed on all the big Amiga BBS's and stored in the same format. I used to use a program called Thor on the amiga, it was a combined email software and newsgroup reader. Twas miles ahead of it's time, some Amiga bod named Matt Bettinson helped me set it up, apparently he wrote for mags, nice guy, lived in South London. I wasn't very familiar with newsgroup packets and the like, the curse words he used down the phone Anyway, was a little buzz to see all the BBS stuff again with all the patch files and txt info files. Was like being in front of a monitor while on a BBS, happy days (and huge phone bills)
Sounds brilliant Paul, I would have liked that too Although these days, even with the power of the internet, I find myself being quite selective about the software I download. The only collections I keep really up to date are the amazing Homesoft for the A8 and Trebors 7800 catalogue. Speaking of catalogues, I wish I had kept a copy of the disk catalaogue I made back in my ST days. Spent a lot of time creating that, good times
Incredible, fellas. I am certain that if all the floppy disks that us lot have ever laid our mitts on (plus the cables, leads, accessories and wires that have come with all of our retro micros and PCs) were laid on top of each other then you would have a resulting media mess four times the height of Everest that would occupy over 2 billion attempts to throw it all back into yer wardrobe, shut the doors and hope no one is killed in the resulting avalanche if someone was nuts enough ever to try and re-access the heap, opening said doors...
So Turkey may have been a bloke attempting to get a disk from his massive ST porn collection, 1 disk slipped and the mountain followed levelling cities.. Too soon, it's always too soon
