That sounds like a bit of a Jackanory Story with the courier alright. Glad you got your refund though Paul. I never knew C64 power supplies were problematic. Had heard about the SID chip going. Hope you get fixed up so you can compare to your Atari again and see how much better the A8 is
Hi Alan, All go here, bloody C64C I sold seems to have gone walkies, its shows delivered but guy saying it hasn't arrived, don't tell me I've had two chancers in a day? Its signed for an all... But yes, 3 C64 issues, PLA's, SIDs and the square PSU's with the C in the middle and ridges. As for better....I love them both, in general I prefer the Atari versions of games that got a C64 release, Jumpman for instance just sounds and feels wrong on the C64. I love the 64 for the stuff that was never done on the Atari, games like Wizzard, a Jumpman clone but better in different ways to Jumpman ie spells and stuff. Andy way, if I say one is better then just like the forums its going to lead to an argument, except with myself arguing with myself about which one is better
The worst thing about selling on EBay, you never know if the buyer/seller is really legit. That's the nice thing about being on a friendly forum like this, you guys are all trustworthy. Well except that Baz one maybe with his weird Orc computers or whatever they are called.... And Paul, all computers are good despite the playground arguments we used to have as kids. Imagine back then knowing that one day you could have ALL the systems you wanted. Mind blowing. Saying that, I think you should start a new thread where you argue the relative merits of Atari v Commodore with yourself
Yeah that Baz bloke, deffo a bit sus.. Joking aside re the arguments about systems, I've always been an advocate of going where the good stuff is versus being a system fan boy. I love (for a while) the arguments on Atari Age re how great the Atari is next to the C64, people get so animated and suddenly start making up facts that are nonsense for either system. I've never been a big fan of the Spectrum because of the lack of sprites and colour clash BUT it was one of the UK's biggest selling computers with thousands upon thousands of devoted users to this day, that speaks for itself. Are their good games on it, yes some stonkers. Same with the consoles, some stunning that platform only games, do I not get them because they are on a 'rival' platform...Hell no..Go where the goodies are.
Back to the early 80s playground scenario and here we go, ere we go, ere we go... (Behind the bike sheds) Kid1: My computer is better than yours cos... My Oric version of Manic Miner has 12 or so more levels than your Spectrum. The Oric version of Hunchback has scrolling walls (the Spectrum doesn't). Go and press your dead sea creatures keyboard. The Oric version is better. And harder. So there. Thankew Goggle.
Hello Folks The amazing @Vyper68 has now got me sorted with a 6128 in the near future. Thanks for looking guys!
Sadly, too many AZERTY machines to please you from this side of the pond, Allen, but I am glad you found one. If you need some help with the Gotek, don't hesitate!
