The latest Atari goodies to arrive are my ABBUC magazine and disk, and a bonus ABBUC disk game Another Pong.

Yep!
(And based on this, my own, and the reports of others with the shipping and mailing systems, I have EVERY CONFIDENCE in the reliability and trustworthiness of a mail-in ballot-based election.)

Gawd, my U1MB is out for delivery with the dreaded UPS and after them calling me John COVID and me getting slightly pissed about it I reckon the chances of my parcel coming to today or in 1 piece are slim..
Was stuffed as the only 2 choices for delivery were UPS or Fedex who were a lot dearer..Bloody virus, pissing up everything.. -

I don't know that it's so much the virus as the pervasive FEAR running willy-nilly. But I hear ya, Paul!

Hi Tim and Vulc, yes the Music construction set should and does work on an XL, EA's protection is NOTORIOUS for being picky about drive speed, if you have any mod in it will almost certainly stop loading..
And yes, I'm the proud fathe err er / owner of an Ultimate1MB, it arrived safe and sound yesterday and I plan to install it later..
Watched FJC's install video and had a chat with him (and very helpful he was) as he did it slightly different to the standard install.
Wish my cheapo desolder air sucker tool had arrived, hate using the pump gun, sadly like my hot air gun its somewhere between China and me as it has been for some time. The notion is that somewhere over the ocean are my two items just sat between the clouds refusing to budge any faster than a snail after a laxative..
My luck seems dire, a lead from Mr Robot turned up today, the blooming head had been ripped off in transit. A bit of damaged to the padded envelope but not as much as you would expect for a beheaded lead..Weird....
Still, it just gives me something more to take up my time with, better than sitting here doing nothing at all..Always trying to turn a negative into a positive....
Failing mostly
Have fun... -

The War Game Construction Set arrived today. I shifted some things around to make room on a display shelf. The condition of it was described as "acceptable." and I'd say it's at least that, really it's in excellent condition. These days games in this condition generally sell for three or four times as much, complete like this, so I think I did well for $20 total.
I haven't tried the disks yet, but if they are bad I'll just write the ATR's to one of my new floppies and move the labels over.

since website decided it'll not add a quote ..
There are two ways of looking at that .. YES you are what a Donut ...

My latest is a great deal I found on Ebay for 3 of the Syn-series programs; $24.95. usually selling for that much each! That's all the Atari spending I can afford for a while, I've been on a bit of a binge since my birthday...anything else will have to wait until Christmas, unless something urgent comes up like limited release Sophia 2 or something...that's four software packages and three hardware devices...

CB101049 - Best Mitsumi XE Keyboard Mylar
CO25953 - Atari eMMU 130XE
Bradley said it wasn’t cost effective to order it on it’s own but I didn’t need anything else at the time, could you add that to your order? It won’t add much to the weight. -

I just got some Atari/Fuji metallic badge/labels in the mail I forgot I'd ordered from eBay. They are to add an Atari badge to custom cases I have made for devices without cases. Multiple pictures are an attempt to capture the chrome in the light...with limited success. I originally wanted to order genuine Atari badges like are on the 400/800/810, but MyAtari wants $10 each plus shipping these days which I found ludicrous, so I found these as an alternative, and 4 cost me the price of one badge from MyAtari.

Very nice and very reasonable, Matt. As you say, what's the point in throwing $30-40 at a couple of Atari badges when there are much more economical alternatives available. I got a sheet of adhesive Oric badges a short while ago which cost me about 10 euros for 10 and I just colour photocopy them, carefully cut them out (so saving the originals) and pritt stick them on to various Oric peripherals and they're fine... and will outlast me, most probably.
Anyone else got any thrifty recommendations? I remember Brenski used to produce some pretty nifty Atari 5.25" disk labels which were smart and stylish too. -

So over the last few days I've decided to check all my floppy disk to ensure they boot and the programmes run, and good old Murphy decides to step in.
One of my drives decides to start playing up with loading the disks. OK, opened it up and cleaned the head, and it was filthy. I found the offending disk and that is now in the bin. The disk material was breaking up. Tried another disk and found the same problem.
So I decided to check the disk speed and it was reading 295 RPM.
So I've checked all my drives, including my XF551 and 3 of the 1050s required adjustment as the were on the high side.
Now to recheck the disks that wouldn't load and see how many are actually good. -

Lots of ups and downs in here as of late, hope our collective luck changes, I'm just on the brinks of a clear out of crap as there's a chance we could lose our house thanks to new charges being placed on us but I could have been 130 quid worse off if not for a bloody kind woman in Chiswick the other day. As I drove down a road she ran out with a placard saying I was going to get fined if I carried on and the council had not put warning signs up. She was doing this for every one, made the news groups..
Pi**ed me off that the Police were trying to stop her warning people..Attached Files:

LOL! It's the way it goes, mate and don't I know it.
I am skint.
There are no two ways about it - my bank balance is pitiful and I know I will get a message any day now telling me I'm overdrawn again despite last month's paycheck hardly having time to even dry the ink on it so what do I do?
Get the itch again, like you... but why?
I have acquired and then sold on 4-5 C64s in the last 4-5 years so what the hell am I doing asking some bloke to send me ANOTHER? An untested 'breadbin' from miles away (bound to be hefty postage to add to the bill too) and it will more than likely turn up here DOA?
What am I playing at?
I need help.
I need therapy.
I recognise I have a problem.
Guys, where's the nearest retro head-shrink meet up circle for silicon similarly-addicted saddos?
(For some sick, perverted reason, all I can hear in my fevered brain's memory banks is.... "You get more and more, from your Commodore, your Commodore Sixty Four!")
STOBBIT.
I am self-certifying myself as....
SICK.
ABOVE: Use your loaf - can anyone PLEASE help Baz with an alarming addiction he has to one of these breadbin fekkers.Last edited: Dec 6, 2020
