Bloody ace, Al. Reminds me of the time my mate Bill West did a week YTS at your rivals, Wigfalls. Will tell more later - must dash - have a "sound" day everyone!

Burnout 3 is probably still one of my favourite games of all time. Total classic.
If I'm taking a corner in a racing game I just want to go round it as fast as possible, don't care about the kind of tyre grip or size of the engine! -

I'm very impressed with the results, Al.
Are you a photographer?
You're certainly talented, mate - great pics there - deffo "arty" if you don't mind me saying
-
by AlexDritoYeah, it's so cool and flexible, it is largely supported and the community around it is quite active. The only flaw is the selling price, as said before. It's great but still too expensive IMO. I remember I paid about 110 EUR for the MISTICA and it's worth it - 500 or more for the MISTer 128/256 is just too much. And I heard a new version is coming out soon. Anyway, the FPGA systems are kind of the future of retrocomputing as time goes by

Hi @nysavant No Amstrad's nowadays and the only Acorn machine I have is an Acorn Electron with a boxed Plus 1 expansion but I think I want to keep that.
@Paul "Mclaneinc" Irvine I don't have a 3DS anymore sadly, used to own one but now it's just my Wii U and Switch, but thanks for the offer. -

Was the Elk your first computer when you were a kid Richie?
-
by Andy Barr
Yep, Al... the nostalgia of us harking back and those golden memories of the great kit and software coming out back then which made our hobby so exciting still exists within the ads and the pages of these great old mags. I've got at least one large wardrobe shelving unit which groans with the weight of my old 80s computer mags and I still lurve getting em out and having a trip down memory lane with em. Always the articles and the ads which bring a smile to my face. Cheers, mate - enjoy every magic moment with em.

Excellent, Al.
Yer selling it to us big time, buddy!
Enjoy and give it the max over the Easter hols, mate. -

Does that also act as a memory upgrade as well?

Thanks for the update, Al, and confirmation there that all is well in terms of tape loading etc.
Funny you should mention Storm - it is a really good (Mastertronic?) budget title and I believe it was converted for the Oric by the Oric legendary programmer Jonathan "Twilighte" Bristow & called Stormlord.
Quick feedback, Al - how would you say the humbler Oric version compares to the CPC464 presentation / gameplay, mate?
Oric:
CPC464:
Ah, not the same game at all - my mistake!
Always thought that Jonathan had modded it from the Amstrad version (can't have ever ported it as CPC is Z80, yeah, and Oric is 6502 CPU) and so it would appear that I've got me wires crossed somewhere - doh
I've just had a word with mesen.
Here we go, Stormlord was an entirely different game:Attached Files:

What upscaler do you have Richie?
-
by Paul "Mclaneinc" Irvine
Ta Richie, had forgotten I'd asked..Will have a look..Ta for the info...
Found it for 16 quid on ali...Well looks like the unbranded one on his page.
I have a 25 quid Paypal voucher but I bet it's like coupons in Supermarkets, if you only use some of the value you lose the rest? -

Go for it, Al - Gertcha!

Cheers, buddy.
I'll get the ol soundtracks, spinning plate and camcorder out and see what next we have on the wheel of retro micro goodness (grief!)
Aye, that's be sweet to see the 1029 and 1050, Al - many thanks in advance, mate. -

Hello Andy
I've had a think about my cave situation Andy and have decided to hold on to me little bits slightly longer as I think I might be able to create some space with a bit of shuffling around. Sorry mate, but if the plans fail you will have first shout on the attached peripherals (the real things, not just the photos).
In the meantime, I need to clear some wardrobe space and find a retro-looking computer desk for Al's vintage A8 display....

I also bought a RetroBit Sega Saturn 2.4Ghz Pro Controller last week as well. It can play as a standard controller or switch to the analog controller.
The only downside is it’s not playing well with the SAROO and I haven’t been able to update the controller firmware.
So it’s only being used for disc based games currently. -

Just had a play of Auto Modellista, very drifty in my non expert hands. Nice cell shading graphics. I barely could keep it in a straight line. Not really my thing, but it is very nice, quality Capcom game, was there a follow-up?
As a very much younger man, I did the advanced driving course so to get the insurance down. We did all the skid pan stuff, yet, put me on Ridge Racer and I struggle to get the drift right, despite knowing exactly what to do and doing it for real
And Ridge Racer is one of the easier drift style games.

I've played Red Steel and the second game, good fun.apparently 2 is much better with the sword play than Red Steel , both fun.

Very good feedback and comments there, fellas.
Haven't a scooby what any of the games are which you guys refer to and clearly know like the backs of your hands but like you say, some start-up game boy/gal would surely get a Dreamcast of a buzz out of this gear and as Paul intimates, the seller might take an offer, who knows?
Not for me though I hasten to add!
You guys are the later-retro cool dude console gamers - I'm 8bit Baz still stuck in 82/83 and maybe 84 at a push

Now why hadn't I ever looked at XIII before... very nice graphics. In fact I think I will try and pick up a PS2 copy. Thanks guys

The NecGon really makes a difference with Ridge Racer, feels like you have much more precise control. Looking forward to trying it on some other games.
My first printer was an LC-10 so that's why I'd go for that over an Epson FX-80 (that always seemed like a printer you would only see in offices, you know, with it being a genuine Epson printer). The one printer range I was never a fan of was the Citizen, the 120D and Swift models. Although we sold them by the bucketload in Silica they always seemed a bit fragile and prone to mechanical breakdowns. I do remember going to down to London with my then girlfriend for a BJ though. Right you lot, stop sniggering at the back. You know fine well I meant a Canon BubbleJet

As you know, I had a Dragon recently but I got my fingers burnt.... Any good? No? Where do you get your jokes from, Baz, a knacking Xmas cracker... AGAIN?!

Hey, Paul - I hope that minx madam whirling dervish kitten Thumbs thing has settled down now and many congratulations to you and Cindy on your... good heavens, how many years married anniversary? That's incredible and quite amazing when a lot of relationships usually take a running jump and a dive after just a handful of years these days. Sending all our best from me and Bev (absolute beginners at 16 yrs together and 5 married). How on earth Bev puts oop wi me shite I;ll never know

As regards: Andy has missed out, hope the refund is soon for a 2nd try - the guy refunded me tonight, Paul so as I was telling Al, I'll keep the cash back for now as that little Jap sporty number will be making mega demands on me coin at the end of the month and then hope to get another Atari Anniversary machine maybe around Oct-Nov for Chrimbo.
We'll see.
Take care one and all and I hope the marmite cashews have now gone in the cat's bowl and you and yer better half are enjoying summat tastier and have a smashing weekend ahead of yous, folks.
Who needs these??!! -

It really is an awesome piece of kit Paul. It's as close to a Fujinet as you'll get for the ST. The fact you can still have your floppy drive in place is a win. I'm going to try it on my STFM later and see how the HD emulation does with one meg.
-
by Paul "Mclaneinc" Irvine
Let us know, I'm not in the look for an ST, but should that change it's nice to know what's out there and how well it works. The Fuji is great kit as well but the AVG does it all bar the wifi which I don't care for.
