Yep, Al... the nostalgia of us harking back and those golden memories of the great kit and software coming out back then which made our hobby so exciting still exists within the ads and the pages of these great old mags. I've got at least one large wardrobe shelving unit which groans with the weight of my old 80s computer mags and I still lurve getting em out and having a trip down memory lane with em. Always the articles and the ads which bring a smile to my face. Cheers, mate - enjoy every magic moment with em.

Funny you should mention Storm - it is a really good (Mastertronic?) budget title and I believe it was converted for the Oric by the Oric legendary programmer Jonathan "Twilighte" Bristow & called Stormlord.

Quick feedback, Al - how would you say the humbler Oric version compares to the CPC464 presentation / gameplay, mate?

Always thought that Jonathan had modded it from the Amstrad version (can't have ever ported it as CPC is Z80, yeah, and Oric is 6502 CPU) and so it would appear that I've got me wires crossed somewhere - doh

I've had a think about my cave situation Andy and have decided to hold on to me little bits slightly longer as I think I might be able to create some space with a bit of shuffling around. Sorry mate, but if the plans fail you will have first shout on the attached peripherals (the real things, not just the photos).

In the meantime, I need to clear some wardrobe space and find a retro-looking computer desk for Al's vintage A8 display....

 

I also bought a RetroBit Sega Saturn 2.4Ghz Pro Controller last week as well. It can play as a standard controller or switch to the analog controller.
The only downside is it’s not playing well with the SAROO and I haven’t been able to update the controller firmware.
So it’s only being used for disc based games currently.

 

Just had a play of Auto Modellista, very drifty in my non expert hands. Nice cell shading graphics. I barely could keep it in a straight line. Not really my thing, but it is very nice, quality Capcom game, was there a follow-up?

As a very much younger man, I did the advanced driving course so to get the insurance down. We did all the skid pan stuff, yet, put me on Ridge Racer and I struggle to get the drift right, despite knowing exactly what to do and doing it for real And Ridge Racer is one of the easier drift style games.

 

I've played Red Steel and the second game, good fun.apparently 2 is much better with the sword play than Red Steel , both fun.

Haven't a scooby what any of the games are which you guys refer to and clearly know like the backs of your hands but like you say, some start-up game boy/gal would surely get a Dreamcast of a buzz out of this gear and as Paul intimates, the seller might take an offer, who knows?

The NecGon really makes a difference with Ridge Racer, feels like you have much more precise control. Looking forward to trying it on some other games.

My first printer was an LC-10 so that's why I'd go for that over an Epson FX-80 (that always seemed like a printer you would only see in offices, you know, with it being a genuine Epson printer). The one printer range I was never a fan of was the Citizen, the 120D and Swift models. Although we sold them by the bucketload in Silica they always seemed a bit fragile and prone to mechanical breakdowns. I do remember going to down to London with my then girlfriend for a BJ though. Right you lot, stop sniggering at the back. You know fine well I meant a Canon BubbleJet

As regards: Andy has missed out, hope the refund is soon for a 2nd try - the guy refunded me tonight, Paul so as I was telling Al, I'll keep the cash back for now as that little Jap sporty number will be making mega demands on me coin at the end of the month and then hope to get another Atari Anniversary machine maybe around Oct-Nov for Chrimbo.

We'll see.

It really is an awesome piece of kit Paul. It's as close to a Fujinet as you'll get for the ST. The fact you can still have your floppy drive in place is a win. I'm going to try it on my STFM later and see how the HD emulation does with one meg.

 

Let us know, I'm not in the look for an ST, but should that change it's nice to know what's out there and how well it works. The Fuji is great kit as well but the AVG does it all bar the wifi which I don't care for.

Excellent work even though I know nowt about this stuff you've bagged some great sounding gear and they've chucked extras in here and there for you which shows they must be chuffed with you as a punter down this retail store.

I'm not saying I am 100% interested, and it might have to be til next month if I were, as my purchase today cost me over £3k (that's the price of a nice 2nd hand Jap sports car), but what price is your CPC464 going for, buddy, and what comes with it??

Just asking for a retro addict, you understand...

PS. I know Infocom adventures are the dog's bolly's but would you pay £200 for 4 of their titles??

Had a chance to give this game a quick go and it plays like something between Ridge Racer and a Gran Turismo type simulator. Lots of real life cars and handling more towards the sim side of things but still has that Ridge Racer feel and graphics. Nice courses as wel, like Monace for instance.

 

I like the look of those little monitors, perfect size. Maybe I'll grab one in the future, way too stretched at the mo.

Would you do me a favour and post a link to the exact monitors you are talking about, I did look, but it was a while back when you first mentioned them, and I am just too lazy

Aye, it's not the best spot right there to see the sea - and if you gaze to the south/turn right, you get a view of all the wind turbines off the coast so seeing some sea gets more challenging by the year!
